    North Central University (Minneapolis, MN) has been granted full membership in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The CCCU's Board of Directors approved NCU as the organization's 110th member institution on August 11, 2010, adding North Central to a prestigious group of Christian colleges and universities privileged with membership in the Council for Christian College & Universities.

  • Faculty Seminar: June 23-25, 2010

    The 2010 AG Faculty Seminar, presented by the Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education team, was held on the campus of Evangel University (Springfield, Missouri), June 23-25, 2010. More than 150 faculty members and administrators from 18 of the endorsed AG colleges and universities as well as the two candidate schools met together for a time of professional development, collaboration and fellowship.

  • Global University receives full regional accreditation

    Global University, the dedicated distance learning institution of the Assemblies of God, received full regional accreditation on February 22, 2010, based on a decision of the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association's Board of Trustees. Global is now one of more than 1,200 universities and colleges fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

  • Respecting Sex and Reducing Abortions—What Can Christian Leaders Really Do?

    The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) will hold their board of directors meeting in Springfield, Mo., at the Assemblies of God Headquarters March 10-11. Through a new initiative, the NAE desires to partner with educational institutions to present educational forums around the country. The NAE has asked AGTS to partner with them in developing the first of these forums entitled "Respecting Sex and Reducing Abortions-What Can Christian Leaders Really Do?" The forum will be held at AGTS on Friday, March 12, from 9-11:30 am.

  • VFCC Partners To Reach 4,000 Students

    Youth Studies majors at Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, recently hosted a 4-day outreach to the local community. The event was held January 25-28, and featured special guests Reggie Dabbs, Preston Centuolo and Jason Lamer, who partnered with Rev. Phil Baker, VFCC Youth Ministries Specialist.

  • AG Enrollment Summit was January 27 – 31, 2010

    The Alliance for AG Higher Education hosted the 3rd Annual AG Enrollment Summit. Twenty enrollment professionals from 15 of the Assemblies of God (AG) higher education institutions met together at Southwestern AG University (SAGU) to build collaborative relationships and sharpen their skills. Participants from the smallest to the largest schools were able to share their experiences, difficulties and ideas to mutually enrich, encourage and strengthen one another.

  • Southeastern University Reaches Out to Haiti Earthquake Victims

    In light of the devastating earthquake that has destroyed the
    capital city of Haiti, Southeastern University students are
    responding to the crisis. All of the money collected in Southeastern
    University's chapel services during the next few weeks will go
    toward helping some of the many Port-au-Prince victims.

  • 2009 AG Student Leaders' Conference a Success

    The Alliance for AG Higher Education hosted its 2nd Annual AG Student Leaders' Conference November 12-15, 2009, in Springfield, MO. The Alliance invited 61 college students representing 17 endorsed AG higher education institutions and one endorsement candidate school to this three-day event. They requested that each school send their student body president, along with other leaders of the administration's choosing.

  • Southeastern's Jerusalem Studies Center Renamed for AG Superintendent

    The Jerusalem Studies Center operated by Southeastern University of Lakeland, Florida, is now the George O. Wood Jerusalem Studies Center in honor of the general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world.

  • Evangel to Offer Accelerated Degree in Professional Communication

    Sec. of Defense Gates announced on November 19, 2009, that Sec. West and Admiral Vern Clark have been appointed to head an investigation on the Ft. Hood killings and the military's systems for identifying potential subversive and destructive activity within the military structure.

    The Assemblies of God Church Multiplication Network (CMN), recognizing that coaching is a crucial tool for the starting and sustaining of churches, announced it is partnering with Purdue University's Organizational Leadership Development Lab (LeaderLab) to provide a unified approach to the certification of coaching competency. The goal of this partnership will be the creation of a system for training coaches based on a benchmark consistent with the emerging coaching standard as defined by the International Coaching Federation International Coach Federation (ICF).

  • SAGU Offers New Ancient Studies Program

    Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, recently introduced a new bachelor's degree program in Ancient Studies, which will include a hands-on archeology project. The program was approved by the Board of Regents in May 2009. SAGU is the only A/G school to offer such a degree. The program will be implemented fall 2009.

  • Fifth AG Faculty Seminar Was June 24-26, 2009

    June 24-26, 2009, The Alliance for AG Higher Education team hosted its fifth AG Faculty Seminar at Evangel University (Springfield, Missouri).  Nearly 200 faculty members and administrators from 17 of the 19 endorsed Assemblies of God (AG) colleges and universities met together for a time of sharing, growth and fellowship.   The theme of this year’s conference was “Common Challenges of the 21st Century,” and the academic disciplines represented were Behavioral Sciences, Communications, Fine Arts, Humanities, Math, Science and Social Sciences.

  • AGTrust Announces Riggs Scholarship Recipients

    The Assemblies of God Trust and The Alliance for Assemblies of God Higher Education are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009-2010 AG Trust Scholarships. Under the leadership of General Superintendent George O. Wood and Assistant General Superintendent Alton Garrison, AGTrust seeks to strategically invest in our next generation of leaders. Therefore, this fund awards one male and one female high school senior the General Superintendent's Scholarship, worth up to $30,000 over a four year period. In addition, the eight semi-finalists are awarded the other Riggs Scholarships, worth $5,000 each.

  • Evangel PBL team wins three 1st Place awards at National Leadership Conference

    Eleven Evangel University students attended the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., June 20-23, and they came home with more awards than any Evangel PBL team has ever earned at a national conference.

  • CBC's Hanson recipient of NCCAA Sports Ministries Award

    Central Bible College's Athletic Director Kirk Hanson, was awarded the 2009 National Christian College Athletic Association's Sports Ministries Award on June 4, 2009. The award was given in recognition of CBC teams' outstanding commitment to the integration of athletics and ministry. CBC was one of two colleges in the NCCAA to receive the award this year.

    To honor the Assemblies of God General Superintendent George Wood, Southeastern University (AG) in Lakeland, Florida, announced recently their plans to change the name of the Jerusalem Studies Center to The George Wood Jerusalem Studies Center.

  • Northwest University Adds New Campus

    After many years of working closely with Salem (Oregon) Bible College (SBC), Northwest University (NU) in Kirkland, Washington, invited SBC to merge with NU. The merger, which was completed in November, makes Salem the first of Northwest's distance campuses.

  • SAGU Students Span the Globe on Contact Trips

    Approximately 90 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) students will span the globe this summer on 11 Contact trips. Most of the teams left the first week of May. These teams will return by the end of May or first few days of June. There is also a team that leaves in June.

  • Vanguard University's Nursing Progam Receives Accreditation

    Vanguard University (AG) in Costa Mesa, California, has announced that the University's RN-to-BSN degree program received the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation for five years. Five years is the longest period of time for which the CCNE grants accreditation for a new program.

  • Vanguard Students Win National Geographic Contest

    Vanguard University (AG, Costa Mesa, California) students were recently announced as the winners of the Audience Award in the 2009 National Geographic Preserve Our Planet PSA (public service announcement) contest. Created by Vanguard communication students Cody Crawford, Josh Hamilton and Scott Houston, "Together We Can Change Our World" is a stop-motion PSA that was produced using natural and sustainable resources.

    Southeastern University (Lakeland, Florida) has announced that President Mark Rutland has recently accepted an offer to become the new president of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rutland will remain as Southeastern's president until July 1.

  • Bethany's President Rossi To Step Down

    Dr. Maximo Rossi Jr., president of Bethany (AG) University in Scotts Valley, California, since 2003, recently declined to allow his name to stand for a second five-year term as president. Rossi has shared with the Bethany Board of Trustees that he desires to transition his ministry to evangelism, preaching and teaching. His last day as president at Bethany will be August 31, 2008.
